This February half term, kids can join the Roman Army at Chesters Roman Fort, for hands-on Roman activities led by our Centurion.
Get hands on with Northumberland’s Roman story, as English Heritage brings to life Hadrian’s Wall in the grounds of an ancient Roman Fort, complete with an incredible Bath-House, Museum of Roman finds, ruins and Tearoom.
Activities include:
– Drills – our Centurion will give kids the skills they would have needed to defend themselves from attack on the edge of the Roman Empire
– Talks / stories about life in the legion and the building of the wall
– Object handling
– Dressing up – try on Roman armour and see how heavy it is!
Families can also take part in our new permanent trail, ‘Chesters Fort Takeover’ – have you got what it takes to run a Roman fort? The emperor orders you to run Chesters. Pick who you want to be. Search for tips hidden in the fort and uncover more about life here as you go.
